The Brera is a truly beautiful and charismatic car inside and out. Forget that it's cramped and dynamically a bit off the pace. Just look at it.
The Brera boasts a brilliant range of engines and specs. Sadly most buyers seem to have opted for the diesel engine, which means there are fewer petrols to choose from. Q4 cars are four wheel drive. Avoid unless you need it.
The smart money is on petrol with second hand Breras. Most of the cars sold are diesel and go to fleets. Diesel Breras hold on to their value. This leaves a nice pool of enthusiast owned petrol models for the canny purchaser.
Avoid the heavy and thirsty V6 petrol cars unless you really value the sound of a V6. The 2.2 petrol sounds fantastic, is reliable if serviced well and is relatively economical.
Pay around £14,600 for a 3 year old 2.2 Brera with 22,500 miles showing. Avoid the big wheel options if you can, they ruin the ride. You will pay £300 more for leather but it's worth it come re-sale time.
The best time to buy is at three years old when the first MOT is complete. Depreciation can be as high as 20% in that year as a lot of ex-fleet cars come into the market around this time.
