The Alfa GT is a cheap way into the world of Italian glamour. Excellent engines compliment the looks and the cars are reliable if well serviced. More soulful than the BMW 3 series, Peugeot 407 and Renault Laguna Coupes.
If you can find one, go petrol with second hand GTs. Most of the cars sold are diesel and go to fleets. For this reason diesel GTs hold on to their value but they will have higher miles. This leaves a nice pool of enthusiast owned petrol models for the canny purchaser.
Avoid the thirsty V6 petrol cars unless you really value the sound of a V6. The 2.0 also petrol sounds fantastic, is reliable if serviced well and is relatively economical.
Pay around £7,250 for a 5 year old 2.0 petrol Brera in basic Turismo spec with 55,500 miles showing Avoid the big wheel options if you can, they ruin the ride. You will pay £300 more for leather but it's worth it.
