Audi Q5 For Sale Prices & Depreciation Trend

Used Car Expert recommends that you try to buy after a big drop in depreciation and before the next one, so with the current Audi Q5 you would aim to buy a 3 year old and you can keep it for some time before needing to worry about a big drop in value.
| Year | £ Average Price | £ Drop | % Depreciation |
| 2012 | £32,846.50 | - | - |
| 2011 | £32,846.50 | £0.00 | 0.00 |
| 2010 | £33,575.00 | £2,908.00 | 7.97 |
| 2009 | £29,373.00 | £4,202.00 | 12.52 |
| 2008 | £27,362.00 | £2,011.00 | 6.85 |
Sample Sizes
The depreciation is based on analysis of UK retail prices over 3 years, using new brochure prices, a sample of 200 cars first registered in 2011, 142 cars first registered in 2010, 180 cars first registered in 2009, 13 cars first registered in 2008.
Diesel Audi Q5 cars lose most over the first year (from new to 1 year old), so that is the best ‘nearly new’ buy in terms of car for money.
Petrol Audi Q5 cars lose least between years 1 and 3, so this is the best buy if you want to keep the car for a while.
Petrol Audi Q5 cars lose least between years 2 and 4, so that is the best buy on older cars.

Used Audi Q5 2009 – Buyer’s Guide
Why buy a Used Audi Q5?
The Q5 is Audi's answer to the prestige junior 4X4 market exemplified by the Land Rover Freelander, BMW X3 and the Volvo XC60. A very competent car. Expensive both new and secondhand.
As with its bigger sister the Q7, the Audi Q5 is road based. It is essentially just a tall estate car. That gives great visibility but it's fairly compromised off road. Most buyers don't care though. It looks the part.
I’ve seen several Used Audi Q5 for sale, which should I buy?
There is only one petrol option on the Q5 and it's the 2 litre turbo from the Golf GTI. It's a brilliant engine and suits the car. Diesels make more sense though.
Go for a 2.0 diesel in 138 BHP trim with a manual box. The DSG is a bit jerky for school run use and the bigger diesels and petrols are thirsty. Go for SE spec as the great looking big wheels destroy the already lumpy ride.
Fault Checks for the Audi Q5
I’ve seen a Used Audi Q5 for sale, what is a good price?
Pay no more than £29,000 for a nearly new 2.0 diesel in SE spec.
Buy nearly new and sell on in a year to avoid any depreciation at all. Remarkable.
