The 2nd generation Audi TT builds strongly on the strengths of the first. Gorgeous looks, top quality and surprisingly spacious interior, plus a range of set ups and engines from smooth to quick.
The first generation of TT only looks dated when parked next to this MK2. The more edgy looks and higher specification make this TT a satisfying purchase.
Strangely, the diesel TT doesn't command much, if any of a premium over the petrol and the mileage is comparable. Go petrol we say, but, really it's up to you.
We'd opt for a 2.0 turbo petrol. The TT is a sports car and petrol, power suits it well. The 3.2 V6 models are a bargain also for similar money to the 2.0 petrol.
Pay £26,000 for a year old 2.0TFSi petrol. Sport and S-Line trim are great for looks but you will pay up to £1000 more and get a different, more sports car type ride.
The TT is one of the slowest depreciating cars on the market. If you buy a two year old car, well specificed for re-sale (like a silver diesel in sport trim) you should get within 5% of what you paid when you sell on!
Used Car Expert recommends that you try to buy after a big drop in depreciation and before the next one, so with the current Audi TT you would aim to buy a 3 year old and sell it before it is 4 years old.
