The C3 Picasso is a very funky little junior MPV from Citroen which, despite being a little over groovy in appearance still majors on interior space and practicality. There's no denying how good Citroen are at this kind of car.
The C3 Picasso is immensely practical - despite the modest dimensions there is room for 5 - the cabin is well built and very easy to use. It's a bit dull to drive though - and the ride can be unresolved.
As with pretty much all Citroens the diesel power plants suit the car very well - but you pay a heavy premium for them. Go petrol and save a fortune.
A 2 year old VTR model will cost you £2000 more as a diesel car. If you factor in the excellent 42MPG economy of the 1.4 petrol to the diesel's 62MPG you realise it will take years for the diesel to make financial sense.
Trim is a bit misleading here - there are many options and variants - go for mid ranking VTR+ spec - that should have all you need. Pay £9,500 for a 2 year old 1.6 VTR petrol showing 10,000 miles or less.
Depreciation is gentle on this very popular car. Buy and sell at any time. For maximum bargains wait til' 3 years when the first MOT is due.
Used Car Expert recommends that you try to buy after a big drop in depreciation and before the next one, so with the current Citroen C3 Picasso you would aim to buy a 6 year old and you can keep it for some time before needing to worry about a big drop in value.
Diesel Citroen C3 Picasso cars lose most over the first year (from new to 1 year old), so that is the best ‘nearly new’ buy in terms of car for money.
Diesel Citroen C3 Picasso cars lose least between years 1 and 3, so this is the best buy if you want to keep the car for a while.
Petrol Citroen C3 Picasso cars lose least between years 2 and 4, so that is the best buy on older cars.
