The Citroen C4 Picasso is Citroen's mid-sized MPV which competes with the likes of the Ford C-Max and Peugeot 3008. It's not as sharp as the Ford but more comfortable than the Peugeot. Very stylish with a lovely cabin.
It's very well optimised for constant family use, right down to the directional vents in the b' pillars. It's well made as well and should be tough enough. It's no driver's car - but then it's for passengers really.
As with pretty much all Citroens the diesel powerplants suit the car very well - but you pay a over the odds for them. Go petrol and save loads.
A 2 year old VTR model will cost you £2000 more as a diesel car. Even though the petrol uses 25% more fuel it will take years for the diesel to make financial sense.
There are a myriad of confusing trim options and variants - go for mid ranking VTR+ spec - that should have all you need. Pay £8500 for a 3 year old car with less than 20,000 on the clock.
On petrol C4 Picasso models there is very light, then suddenly very heavy at 3/4 years old.
Used Car Expert recommends that you try to buy after a big drop in depreciation and before the next one, so with the current Citroen C4 Picasso you would aim to buy a 3 year old and sell it before it is 5 years old.
Diesel Citroen C4 Picasso cars lose most over the first year (from new to 1 year old), so that is the best ‘nearly new’ buy in terms of car for money.
Petrol Citroen C4 Picasso cars lose least between years 1 and 3, so this is the best buy if you want to keep the car for a while.
Petrol Citroen C4 Picasso cars lose least between years 2 and 4, so that is the best buy on older cars.
