The Daihatsu Materia is a pretty cool looking Mini MPV that's sold under the up market, youthful brand Scion in the States and as a Toyota in Japan. It's good. The engine is very strong, the car is well-built and the ride smooth.
There is only one engine choice with the Materia - a 1.5 petrol that's very strong for this class and impressively refined. Daihatsu have pulled out of the UK so prices are fluctuating. A good buy at the right price.
Only one engine ? but you can have an automatic gearbox on the Materia and it's very good - won't cost you any more either.
All cars are very well equipped so it comes down to gearbox choice and colour really. If you like the style of the Materia you can't go wrong.
Pay no more than £7500 for a 3 year old car.
Buy at 3 years. But the cars will depreciate quite heavily after that.
