The Fiat Doblo is a no-nonsense, cheap and rugged 7 seat MPV that is utterly devoid of frills. There is no getting away from its ugliness but it has a pleasing utility.
The Doblo rides and handles surprisingly well for such an ungainly looking thing, seats 7 in relative comfort and is very, very cheap. From a practical standpoint only the Multipla comes close and that costs quite a lot more.
The 1.3 multijet diesel unit really suits this car. It's slow but steady and the fuel economy is amazing. Better than the petrol cars by enough to justify the price disadvantage.
At this price point, and for this type of car the level of trim is a red herring. Buy on condition but get one with air-con - the large glass area heats up the cabin no-end.
Pay £6,500 for a 3 year old car with less than 20,000 miles on the clock.
Buy at 3 years. There is a steep drop until then and a gentle curve thereafter.
