The Idea is Fiat's rival to small MPV's like the Vauhall Meriva but because of its low price it competes also with more rugged vehicles such as the Ranault Kangoo and Fiat's own Doblo.
The Idea is one of those cars that never took off in the UK. Despite that, it's very good and it's total lack of image and brand value make it very cheap. Rides well, steers well, accommodates well. Yet costs buttons. We like it.
As with all mass market cars in this segment you save by opting for a petrol motor. The Idea is a light, small car so even with petrol power it's fairly economical.
Go for a 1.4 16V Active. That covers all the bases and should be very cheap.
A 1.4 16V Fiat Idea in Active trim should cost around £4000 with less than 40,000 miles on the clock. A 1.3 Multijet diesel will set you back £500 to £800 more and is worth it if you have the funds.
Depreciation is likely to vary greatly on these cars and is highly affected by age, specification and mileage.
