The Honda FR-V is a radical take on the MPV format offering 3 abreast seating rather than 3 rows of seats. It's a bit odd but it works.
The novel seating approach means the youngest child can ride up front. The car handles and rides well and petrols are cheap and better than the diesels.
It's a car that baffled the market due to it's odd configuration but it really is rather excellent. Definitely choose petrol - there are no diesel auto cars. The petrol manuals have Honda's great gearboxes.
The petrols are cheaper than the diesel cars but only by £500 or so. Possibly reflecting that there are no diesel autos. The thing is, Honda make the best petrol engines bar none.
A 3 year old FR-V 1.8 petrol should set you back around £12,000. The Executive spec will cost £750 or so more but it really does come with everything.
There is a gigantic drop on petrol cars just after 3 years. Buy then. Diesels have the same drop but will hold onto value longer.
