Reliable, well equipped, roomy but ever so slightly dull, the Accent is a bread and butter family car for those for whom cheap, hassle free motoring is the main requirement.
The car to buy if the Focus and Astra seem too expensive. Very capable and highly unlikely to break. Driving pleasure though, is not a priority for this car.
The 1.5 diesel model carries a 10% premium over the petrol car and, at this price level, that premium is not worth paying. Go for the refined 1.6 petrol - don't worry about re-sale as whichever you pick it will depreciate hard.
Go for a 1.6 petrol in CDX trim as that will get you the all important air con. A deeply sensible car.

Depreciation is steady on these cars. There is no best time to buy.
