A kind of cut price Toyota Celica, the Hyundai Coupe is actually a pretty good car. Good look, excellent reliability and equipment levels.
Sadly, the Hyundai is a sports car that doesn't handle. At speed, it develops crippling over steer. But it's great for posing in town.
It's best with the thirsty but oh-so-raspy 2.7 V6. The autobox saps more power but, again, it is very smooth.
The 1.6 and 2.0 Hyundai Coupes are £1000 cheaper than the 2.7 but there's a very good reason for that which is that they are nowhere near as good. Get the 2.7.
A 3 year old Hyundai Coupe with the 2.7 V6 engine and an automatic gearbox should cost no more than £8500.
Depreciation is surprisingly steep as Hyundai prices are normally strictly controlled by their dealer network. But that's a buyer's opportunity.
