The Jeep Patriot, as it's name might suggest, is a deeply American take on the small 4X4 market. It's rather brash though it's quite a good car. it allows you to be different on a budget.
The leftest of left field choices the Patriot makes sense only if it's very cheap, which luckily it is. Moderate to drive with a slightly cheap feeling cabin the Patriot is a car you buy if you are really motivated by good value rather than good design.
As it's a total bargain secondhand you may as well go the whole hog and select the rare 2.4 petrol. These undercut the diesel models by more than £1000. Avoid the semi-auto CVT. It's utterly rubbish.
Go for a manual 2.4 in any spec really.
Pay around £12,000 to £13,000 for a 2 year old Patriot in any spec.
Either buy nearly new with a petrol or wait 3 or 4 years and get a diesel one for less than half the new price.
