Smoother than Richard Gere's hair, the Lexus SC is an oft misunderstood car that is a brilliant and utterly luxurious drive. Prices are very soft for what you get.
The SC was concieved as a Merc SL rival and in the middle east and the US it is. Not here though, the badge counts against it as do the slightly odd looks. Obviously premium, yet unknown and utterly reliable.
The SC has every option fitted as standard except for the heated steering wheel. 4.3 petrol and auto only - it's not a cheap car to fuel but depreciation is horrendous so it's very cheap secondhand.
Perhaps the only question with the SC is what colour to have it in. There are some questionable options and they will affect your ability to sell it on.
In terms of value the SC drops like a stone. It's a brilliant used buy, especially considering how well built and reliable it is. Pay no more than £15000 for an 8 year old car with less than 60,000 on the clock.
Depreciation is heavy early on, then slows, making 5/6 year old cars a good choice. Then it speeds up at around 8 years, so sell then or drive it forever.
