Used Mazda Rx-8 2003 – Buyer’s Guide
Why buy a Used Mazda Rx-8?
The RX-8 is a novel car in many respects. It a four door coupe with suicide rear doors. It is also the only car in production with a rotary engine. Which gives problems, but the handling is sublime. A left field alternative to the Audi TT.
The RX-8 is still gorgeous and a remarkable thing to drive - for the money nothing else seems so exotic. Very practical as well, with four usable seats and a good interior.
I’ve seen several Used Mazda Rx-8 for sale, which should I buy?
There is no real choice in terms of spec when choosing an RX-8. Stay away from the Pro-drive modified cars as they have a much harsher ride and many expensive, bespoke parts.
Be aware that all UK supplied RX-8's come with a manual gearbox. Any automatic car will be an import. Also be warned that fuel economy is very poor.
Fault Checks for the Mazda Rx-8
I’ve seen a Used Mazda Rx-8 for sale, what is a good price?
Pay around £9,500 for a 3 year old car with around 11,000 miles on the clock. Get the lowest mileage example you can afford.
Either buy early, and enjoy reliability but accept depreciation. Or buy a repaired/re-built engine over 60,000 miles and get the best of both worlds.
