The ZS was MG's cheap rival to BMWs M-Sport saloons. The cars really handle but there is a lack of refinement and the image is not exactly premium.
The 2.5 MG Zs is a great driver's car. Lesser models make less sense as they are just re-badged Rovers that cost more to insure. 2.0 diesel is also good with BMW power.
The bigger engine-models are the only ones that make. Unless you really like the image, and want to keep running costs low, the 1.8 models make more sense as Rovers.
Go for the 2.5 V6. Though it is thirsty and often unreliable the motor really does justice to the absolutely superb chassis in the ZS. Go on, you know it makes sense...In an insane way.
A 5 year old ZS 2.5 V6 should cost just under £3650. You could pay £300 more for a 2.0 Diesel but that would be nowhere near as much fun.
Depreciation is pretty flat now. There is no best time to buy.
