If , for some unlikely reason, you had to bet your life on one car travelling the length and breadth of the UK without going wrong in any way then this would be it. Tough as you like. Brilliant off road and could tow the Empire State Biulding.
Although the Shogun looks as if it might offer to fix your roof for a grand it's a great car. The last of the hyper-tough, big 4X4s, it's actually at home on the road though it doesn't like corners. Very practical day to day and easy to place in traffic.
It's been a long time since you could get a petrol Shogun in the UK so go diesel. The cars are almost all automatic LWB models which is ok because those are the best ones.
There's a remarkable amount of confusing trim names and equipment levels with the Shogun. Just ask if it has what you want.
Pay no more than £15,000 for a 5 year old 3.2 diesel Shogun. It should outlast you.
These cars depreciate at a steady rate and values are heavily influenced by facelifts and trims.
Used Car Expert recommends that you try to buy after a big drop in depreciation and before the next one, so with the current Mitsubishi Shogun you would aim to buy a 3 year old and sell it before it is 4 years old.
