The Qashqai is Nissans take on the junior 4X4 market - it competes with the Honda CR-V, Ford Kuga and our choice, The Chevrolet Captiva. In many ways it has the measure of them.
The only real flaw the Qashqai has is a poor ride. In terms of handling, refinement and practicality it is very hard to beat. As a result prices are very firm.
Everybody and his dog wants a diesel Qashqai so our advice is to go petrol and save a mint.
Go for a 1.6 petrol Qashqai in mid ranking Acenta trim. You are going to save about £1500 by opting for the petrol - very canny.
