Although it looks like a big boxy 4X4 the Nissan X-Trail is actually a very sophisticated road based SUV that can cut it off road. It's a car we really rate and the upgrade in 2007 only helped strengthen it's hand.
The ride and handling compromise of the X-Trail is hard to beat. There's a mass of space and it's well planned. The dash is clear and the seats like armchairs. It's just a shame it's so dull.
Petrol X-trails are rare and much cheaper than the diesels. If you can find a 2.5 petrol then its refined nature and £1000 minimum saving over the diesel car make it a compelling choice.
Go for a 2.5 16V petrol in Acenta spec as an automatic and save a small fortune over a diesel car.
Pay around £10,500 for a 3 year old petrol X-trail in Acenta spec. You can pay up to £26,000 for a nearly new diesel version of the same car.
