For a small car, the Peugeot 206 has always looked big. Which it is - wider infact than a Jaguar. But its swooping design is holding up well - still looking fashionable a decade later. It's a hugely popular seller with a model and price for everyone.
The 206 offers a 3 door and 5 door hatchback, an estate and a cabriolet. The estate is a bit dowdy. The cabriolet is super-cool, competing with posher brands. All have soft rides, good equipment and interior space, plus loads of engines.
For little trips to the local Happy Shopper there is the 1.1P 3 door. For glamour on a budget there is the 1.6P 2 door cabriolet. In the sensible middle ground are 3 and 5 door hatchbacks with 1.4 Hdis (diesels) and 1.4 petrols. These are the big sellers.
As well as the big sellers there are 2.0 Hdis, older 1.9Ds, 1.6Ps and then we get into specifications. Peugeot have standard specifications like SE and special editions like Roland Garros. But extras added when new mean you should consider every car.
5 year old cars are less than £5,000 if you shop around. The diesels will have 10,000 miles more on the clock than the petrols. All the body shapes have similar mileage patterns but the cabriolets are often up to 5,000 less than the rest of the petrols.
Buying a 4 year old car and selling within 12-18 months is a good idea. Depreciation is high between 5 and 7 years old. Then 8 year old cars see depreciation drop down again, so that's the time to pick up a bargain.
