The Peugeot 4007 is sister car to the Mitsubishi Outlander and Citroen C-Crosser and like those cars it's a competent, if slightly bland and left-field mid size SUV that majors in smooth on road dynamics and interior space.
The Peugeot 4007 rides and handles well for a 4X4. The interior is well built and thought out. However, the VW Tiguan and Nissan Qashqai have leapfrgged the 4007 in terms of outright ability.
The Peugeot 4007 is basically exactly the same as the Citroen C-Crosser but costs more for some reason. Diesel only and wisely so.
The mid range SE spec is probably the best compromise. It's a little cheaper and does without the daft big wheels. Manual and Auto prices are the same.
Pay £14,000 for a 3 year old 4007 in SE spec with no more than 35,000 miles on the clock.
The price drops heavily until the third year. Buy then with the first MOT.
Used Car Expert recommends that you try to buy after a big drop in depreciation and before the next one, so with the current Peugeot 4007 you would aim to buy a 3 year old and you can keep it for some time before needing to worry about a big drop in value.
