Used Porsche 911 2004 – Buyer’s Guide
Why buy a Used Porsche 911?
The 911 is has reached new heights now and stands alone as a car type in its own right. Incomparable ride and handling, reliability, good accommodation and decent economy give it a spread of talents no other rival can match.
The 997 generation Porsche 911 is the second watercooled version of the classic 911. Reliable, relatively cheap to run and with firm prices. Even early cars hold value well. If you can, then you must!
I’ve seen several Used Porsche 911 for sale, which should I buy?
As with all ages of 911 the basic Carrera is the wisest choice. It lacks the complexity of the 4WD and more powerful S variants. Targas lose value fastest and Turbo cars are monumentally fast with corresponding running costs.
A basic Carrera or Carrera S in a subtle colour is the best way to go in terms of re-sale.
Fault Checks for the Porsche 911
I’ve seen a Used Porsche 911 for sale, what is a good price?
Pay £35,000 for a 3 year old car with less than 50,000 on the clock in Carrera trim. Manual and tiptronic cars cost about the same. A nearly new car will cost within 5% of list with some variants even appreciating for a while due to low supply!
There is a clear dip in prices at around 3 years when the first MOT is due. Buy then and bargain hard.
