You get the impression that Renault weren’t really considering the UK when they named their tiny drop top the Wind. It’s a little two seater based on the underpinnings of the Twingo and it really isn’t that good, truth be told.
I’ve seldom felt sillier driving a car as I did when piloting the wind. Cheaply assembled and very, very noisy. It’s very hard to think of reasons to recommend this car. It is amusing I suppose. It’s a car that makes sense in the South of France; it doesn’t really work in Croydon.
It’s a petrol car only. If you must buy one, buy the best spec you can find. The wind is generally well specified, you should be able to get leather if you look around.
It’ll have to be a 1.2 TCE turbo petrol, which is lucky as that is a very good engine. You can get a 1.6 petrol but it’s not as good.
Pay £8,200 for a two year old Wind with around 15,000 miles on the clock. 1.6 cars should be a few hundred pounds less.
Depreciation is consistent and comparatively heavy. It makes most sense at two years. Not as much sense as buying a slightly older MX-5 though
