The Prius is a technological tour-de-force that is tough, smooth to drive and very economical. It's also very practical as a family car. The odd styling has been improved and ongoing popularity mean prices are firmer on the used market now.
Unlike any other car to drive, the Prius is very smooth and handles surprisingly well. There is only one powertrain choice and the roomy, comfortable interior is as left-field as the exterior.
The choice with the Prius really comes down to spec and colour. High spec cars have everything as standard. Other than that the cars are the same so buy on mileage and condition
With something as specialised as the Prius it makes sense not to pay too much for options that cost a fortune new. Go for a basic T2 and you will still be saving the world in some comfort.
Pay around £20,000 for a nearly new Prius in T2 spec.
As the market has grown to accept the Prius this car looks likely to escape the ghastly depreciation of it's forbear. Three years will still be the time to buy though.
