A Corsa in drag, the Tigra benefits from being based on the tried and tested hatchback, and there's nowt' wrong with that. But it is also rebodied with better handling.
The Tigra features a neat folding metal roof which makes it both convenient and secure. It's a bit rubbish to drive truth be told but that doesn't really matter in this market segment.
We'd opt for the bigger 1.8 petrol engine - the extra CCs give more refinement and there's only a negligible price to pay in fuel and insurance. Diesel cars feature the frugal 1.3 CDTi engine from the Corsa but you pay a premium and lose refinement.
The optimum Tigra is really the 1.8 petrol manual in any trim bar sport as these cars have wider wheels and tyres which can leave the car thumping over bumps.
A 4 year old 1.8 petrol in standard spec should cost no more than £7500. It should have 30,000 miles on the clock.
Depreciation is notable every year ? there's no avoiding it. Around 3 years with its first MOT would be a good time to buy.
