Used Volkswagen Tiguan 2007 – Buyer’s Guide

Why buy a Used Volkswagen Tiguan?

The Tiguan is a stylish small off-roader from VW that ticks all the boxes in its market. It's stylish, pleasant to drive, has good accommodation and is more middle class than the cast of Midsomer Murders in a Marks and Spencer food hall.

A direct hit from VW for which there is a large waiting list from new. Really hard to find anything negative to say about this car except it is rather snooty and not at all inexpensive. A 4X4 that isn't massive or likely to break.

Which is the best used Volkswagen Tiguan?

All the engines are superb on this car but possibly the best is the 1.4 TFSi which is both Supercharged and Turbocharged. It's about £3000 cheaper than the diesel models but not the much heavier on fuel and much smoother.

SE spec is perfect for this car. You don't need any more and the extra money you pay for the DSG box is not worth it unless you go petrol. The 1.4 petrol models have a later version of this gearbox and it's much better.

What should I aim to pay for an Volkswagen Tiguan?

Pay £15,500 for a 3 year old 1.4 TFSi Tiguan in SE spec with around 25,000 miles on the clock.

These cars hold value really well. The best time to buy a Tiguan is a 3 years but even then they have no lost too much. Buy and sell at any time really.

Volkswagen Tiguan Prices & Depreciation – Graph - Fuel differences

Used Car Expert recommends that you try to buy after a big drop in depreciation and before the next one, so with the current Volkswagen Tiguan you would aim to buy a 3 year old and sell it before it is 4 years old.

Petrol Volkswagen Tiguan cars lose most over the first year (from new to 1 year old), so that is the best ‘nearly new’ buy in terms of car for money.

Diesel Volkswagen Tiguan cars lose least between years 1 and 3, so this is the best buy if you want to keep the car for a while.

Petrol Volkswagen Tiguan cars lose least between years 2 and 4, so that is the best buy on older cars.
