Coupe convertible from Volvo - the C70 is an excellent car - fast, smooth and pleasing to the eye - it's a genuine four seater which, in this segment of the market - makes it stand out.
The C70 has the usual, excellent Volvo interior and comprehensive range of engines and a folding roof. It? only the lack of handling feel that is a negative.
Go for a petrol motor. The Ford diesel is a good idea in principle but in practice the engine is too noisy and rough to suit the car. Get the nice, creamy 2.4 petrol turbo and save a few quid!
Get any petrol model in SE trim and save yourself over £1000 against a comparative diesel.
Pay no more than £11,500 for a 2.4 petrol at 4 years old with less than 50,000 miles on the clock. The comparative diesel will be over £1000 more and sound grim with roof down.
Around 4 years is a good point as depreciation should be fairly gentle from then on.
Used Car Expert recommends that you try to buy after a big drop in depreciation and before the next one, so with the current Volvo C70 you would aim to buy a 4 year old and you can keep it for some time before needing to worry about a big drop in value.
Diesel Volvo C70 cars lose most over the first year (from new to 1 year old), so that is the best ‘nearly new’ buy in terms of car for money.
Petrol Volvo C70 cars lose least between years 1 and 3, so this is the best buy if you want to keep the car for a while.
Petrol Volvo C70 cars lose least between years 2 and 4, so that is the best buy on older cars.
