WITH a 6.3-litre V8 engine developing 517bhp under the bonnet, Mercedes has created the most powerful C-Class model to date.
Capable of accelerating from 0 to 60mph in just 4.2 seconds the so called Black Series of the C 63 AMG coupe is little short of a road going race car.
Available early next year the car can be fitted with advanced aerodynamics including a tuned front splitter and an adjustable carbon-fibre rear aerofoil.
Uprated suspension and active rear-axle transmission cooling are other features honed on the race track which can also be deployed on the flagship version of the C 63.
It is the fourth Black Series model to be launched since 2006 and joins high performance derivatives of the SLK 55, the CLK 63 and the awesome SL 65 AMG with its 670bhp V12 six-litre biturbo engine.
Despite its potent performance the car is claimed to be capable of averaging more than 23 miles to the gallon while inside it is configured as a two-seater underlining its racing lineage. Rear seats can be fitted if required.
Aimed at motoring purists the C63 AMG Black Series made its debut last weekend during the German Grand Prix held at the Nurburgring.
The Black Series follows on from the recently launched C63 AMG Coupe and although final performance figures and pricing have still to be announced it is likely the car will cost in the region of £80,000-plus.
