Hi Matthew,
I have recently packed in my job at a well known law firm in the desire to experience the world. I am planning to follow in the footsteps of my father, who passed away two years ago, in a journey he made before heading to university in the late 1960s. At this time he, along with a few friends, drove a landrover from England into the Middle East and back. I am hoping to find a similar model of car to undertake my journey in but have little idea of where to start looking. Do you have any advice as to how I can purchase an 'old-school' Land Rover model and if they are still available how much would they cost?
Cheers,

Answer
Richard,
You may be having a midlife crisis; do you want me to send you Mikey’s number? You can swap notes.
Oh, OK, I admit it, I’m jealous. This sounds like enormous fun. You need to think about planning routes on country roads, with lots of stops, and packing things like cushions. These Land Rovers are tiring on motorways and over long distances.
There are plenty around, although the £12,000+ price tag might be a shock? Take a look at: http://www.landrovercentre.com/stock/Series_Land_Rovers.htm.
You need to download our guide from http://www.usedcarexpert.co.uk/cars.aspx?numModel=253 as it will tell you how to check the bump stops and all that great retro stuff.
Send me a post card?
