HYUNDAI has not only frozen the VAT increase but has opted to pay the 20 per cent tax on selected i10, i20 and i30 Comfort models as part of a sales campaign for the first quarter of 2011.
The Korean car maker’s initiative, which runs until the end of March, means that the i10 city car costs £7,109 for the Comfort 1.2 5dr model, representing a saving of £1,410.
Popular supermini the i20 is £8,809 for the Comfort 1.2 3dr model - a saving of £1,750, while the i30 mid-sized family hatchback is £11,605 for the Comfort 1.4 5dr model, a saving of £2,285.
As a separate offering to the no VAT deal, for buyers who want to spread the cost of their car over three years, Hyundai also has a Personal Contract Purchase plan with an APR of 7.9 per cent.
“Hyundai begins 2011 by offering fantastic deals on a great range of products that are backed by our class leading five-year unlimited mileage warranty,” said the company’s UK chief Tony Whitehorn.
“Making selected models VAT free as well as offering competitive PCP plans should make buying a new car more affordable.”
