Used Car Expert have not yet inspected this dealer (or group) to asses the quality of its car preparation. If you would like us to, contact us here.
If this is an independent garage, then you should take these steps:
- 1. Take your warranty quote with you
- When you registered, you will hopefully have received a quote from Warranty Direct. Compare the coverage of this with the dealer warranty. Many dealers say they will offer a warranty, but it will often only last 3 months, won't cover very much and sometimes never appears. If this happens, ask them to either match the quality of the Warranty Direct quote or ask for that amount off the car and buy the warranty yourself.
- 2. Ask to see their data check
- If they can't provide a data check, or it doesn't look statisfactory to you, get your own data check done to ensure the car is not stolen, written-off or owed to someone on finance.
- 3. Download our fault check guide
- Don't be afraid to take our fault check guides with you, check for common faults, recalls and big hidden bills.
If it is a main dealer (so branded by the manufacturer), then you can expect them to provide a 'Used Approved' quality of car. See below.

Used Approved Schemes
If you are buying a car from a main dealer of the same brand (i.e. a Volkswagen at a Volkswagen-branded dealer) then you can expect a minimum level of prepartion, warranty and quality. Use the links below to find out what should be available at this dealer, but bear in mind dealers can be careless and sloppy and not live up to these standards until asked to by the customer.
