The toughness of Isuzu trucks has convinced West Dorset coastguards to put two Rodeo pickups into service.

And so far the new 2.5 litre one-tonne Rodeo Denver double cabs are proving more than man enough for the job.

West Dorset District Council Transport Manager, Andy Cadman, said: “We have been running 16 larger Isuzu trucks for some time and their reliability, dealer back-up and general aftersales support has been excellent.

“We tested the new Rodeo pickup against a Nissan Navara and the end-user reported the Rodeo was just that little bit better.

“Its whole-life costs are also tremendous and far superior to that of the Land-Rovers we ran previously.

“We will run the Rodeos for seven years covering general duties around the harbours of Lyme Regis and West Bay and their four-wheel drive will prove useful on the slipways.”

The two Rodeos are fitted with front-mounted winches, reversing cameras and towbars and electrics. They were supplied by Isuzu dealer, Ferndown, Bournemouth.

Winner of a host of accolades, the Isuzu Rodeo range now starts at £13,999 (on the road but excluding VAT) for the 2.5 litre Denver.

All models have alloy wheels, air-conditioning, leather steering wheel, a Pioneer CD/tuner/MP3 player, tinted electric windows, ABS with EBD, rear step bumper and three-point seat-belts for all five occupants.
