SHARP styling and plenty of standard equipment has become a feature of the latest generation of models from Mazda.

The Japanese car maker, which last year clocked up more than 1.3 million sales around the world, has come of age in the past few years.

Its Mazda2 supermini – a rival for the Ford Fiesta – has become the company’s most popular model in the UK.

Priced from £10,305 for a 1.3-litre petrol model, the nine model Mazda2 range has recently been revamped and the line up now includes an automatic costing £12,060.

Although the baby of the Mazda family the car is available in three and five door body styles and all models come with remote central locking, air-conditioning, electric front windows, electric door mirrors, a piano-black centre stack, CD radio with auxiliary jack and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm.

The company now has a presence in all sectors of the popular market and with its MX-5 roadster has Britain’s favourite open top two seater.

The MX-5 is available as a coupe-cabriolet priced from £19,245 or as a rag top which can be had for £2,000 less.

A new Mazda5 seven-seat people mover with diesel power has just been introduced which can average almost 55 miles to the gallon with CO2 emissions a tax-friendly 138g/km.

The 1.6-litre diesel variant at £21,495 is the flagship of the Mazda5 line up which also features 1.8 and two-litre petrol engines with prices starting from £17,695.

A larger 2.2-litre diesel features in the CX-7 SUV which is priced from £26,995 making it one of the best value 4x4s on the market. It’s available only in top specification Sports Tech trim and comes with sat nav as standard.

That engine is also used in the Mazda6 large hatch and estate range and in its medium sized hatch, the Mazda3.

At the moment the company is offering nought per cent finance deals on all of its models with the exception of the CX-7. A free three year service plan is also available on the Mazda5 in Sport trim.

The current finance deals run until the end of March.
