Unlike most people expecting their first child I am about to ignore the merits of the people carrier and buy a 2 + 2 coupe. I am specifically considering a Maserati 3200 GT but, having seen one, my wife is concerned that the sculpted rear seats (whilst spacious enough) might not be suitable for a baby seat due to their shape. Can you advise on this?

Hi James,
In terms of cars, you clearly know what’s what. A Maserati, with all its foibles, is a real enthusiast’s car.
In terms of practical parenting, I think you might be about to get a bit of a shock. Based on all my friend’s 0-2 year children, there isn’t a hope that the little person will sit quietly in the confined space without howling.
He or she will want to see out or see Mum. I know lots of couples end up taking head rests off front seats or the baby rides upfront and Mum takes the back seat. Is your wife short? It’s mostly her that will end up sitting in the back.
But I called Fiorano cars, Maseratis specialists, and they said that aftermarket child seats do fit in.
