Standard equipment on the Startline version includes 16-inch alloy wheels, 4MOTION Selectable four-wheel drive, electric front and rear windows, semi-automatic air conditioning and single CD/radio.
Safety systems include six airbags, electronic stability programme, traction control, electronic differential lock, hill hold assist, hill descent control, trailer stability control and off-road ABS, designed to shorten stopping distances significantly on loose surfaces.
The 4MOTION Selectable four-wheel drive system, available on all models, offers a choice between rear-wheel drive, four-wheel drive and low range four-wheel drive via a button mounted on the dashboard.
Amorak has already landed the inaugural International Pick-up Award 2011, judged by the same panel – representing 23 countries – that elects the van of the year gongs.
Judges praised the Amarok for its ‘effortless off-road abilites’, while its capacity on-road was deemed to be the best among all other competitors.
The jury was also impressed by the Volkswagen’s interior, especially the layout and space for both front and rear passengers in the double-cab cabin.
