THE new Bentley Continental GT and Lotus Elise Club Racer will be among prestige models making their domestic debut at this summer’s Motorexpo.
Jaguar is using the free-to-visit event to introduce its 2012 model line-up to the UK public for the first time and will feature the XF and XFR saloons and the XK coupe and convertible, all of which been extensively revised.
In the case of the 2.2-litre XF diesel, there’s the promise of greatly improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.
The Motorexpo crowd – expected to top 400,000 over the course of the show - will also see the new British-built Range Rover Evoque.
Offered in both two- and four-wheel-drive guises, and as either five-door or coupe, the Evoque is available to order now with first customer deliveries from September.
In addition to the rest of the Land Rover product line-up, Motorexpo will once again feature the Land Rover Experience Terrapod, a purpose-built off-road course.
And to tempt motorsport fans, Group Lotus will be showing for the first time in the UK its lightweight Elise Club Racer and also display its recently launched flagship model, the Evora S.
Alongside these road cars the Norfolk-based brand will show the Evora GT4 race car, which has already gained a number of podiums in race series around the world, and the spectacular Lotus Renault GP F1 car – the R31 – in its black and gold colour scheme.
Swedish manufacturer Saab will be introducing its all-new 9-5 Sportwagon to a British audience while Skoda showcases its latest range of economical Greenline II vehicles.
“It’s clear from the number of manufacturers attending this year’s show – particularly those based in the UK – how seriously the industry takes our event,” said Motorexpo chief Graeme Carver.
Now in its sixteenth year, not only is Motorexpo the UK’s biggest free motoring event, it is also the most interactive, taking advantage of the urban environment in and around the Canary Wharf business and shopping district.
Visitors are encouraged to touch and explore the vehicles on display throughout the indoor and outdoor public spaces, and this year thanks to a new feature called ‘Drive the Future’ they can experience the latest electric and low-carbon vehicles like the Vauxhall Ampera, Mitsubishi i-MiEV and Tesla Roadster.
