I am considering buying Range Rover 2.5DSE with 90,000 miles new engine and gearbox in excellent condition asking price €18,000 or£12,000 is this about right

Hi John,
Based on the mileage and specification I guess this is a 1999 or 1998 car – which give us a problem.
The Range Rovers, on average, complete low mileage with their first owners.
Then, a couple of owners later, they are bought by people that really want to pile the miles on. Consequently, there is a second wave of depreciation.
If it’s a 1999, it is slightly high mileage and you should aim to get the price down by about £500. If it is a 1998 car it is slightly low mileage, but despite that, you should try to get the price down to nearer £8,000.
Otherwise, when you sell it you will have paid the worst of that depreciation.
