VAUXHALL is extending its 100,000 mile warranty scheme to include second hand models sold through its Network Q dealer chain.

The car maker last year became the first to offer 100,000 mile guarantees on its new vehicles with its so-called Lifetime Warranty programme.

Now it is extending the cover to the second owner of any Vauxhall purchased through Network Q that has covered less than 30,000 miles and is under 12 months old.

The cover includes the engine and gearbox, steering system, brakes and electrical equipment.

Under the scheme, owners need to visit a Vauxhall retailer annually for a free vehicle inspection and to keep the manufacturer service schedule up to date.

Duncan Aldred, managing director of Vauxhall Motors, said: “Vauxhall is so confident of the high quality levels built-in to its current range of cars that it is now offering its new ground-breaking lifetime warranty on used cars.

“The Network Q Lifetime Warranty is designed to protect our customers against unexpected costs and to give reassurance and peace of mind long after they’ve taken delivery of their used Vauxhall.”

Network Q became the first national, manufacturer-backed used car programme when it was launched in 1999 and has sold 1.9 million used cars to date. It now has more than 350 retailers and sold more than 80,000 vehicles in 2010.
