VOLVO has given the strongest pointer yet to the future of its cars with the Concept You model unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
It follows on from the Concept Universe car shown earlier in the year, both concepts being used as design studies to gauge public feeling over the ultimate design of the next large saloon from the Swedish marque.
“Concept You gives a good indication of what you can expect from our next large sedan,” said Volvo president Stefan Jacoby.
“With our hearts in Sweden and our eyes and ears all over the world, we intend to be the brand that best interprets what buyers of modern luxury cars want.”
The Concept You combines a coupe-like exterior with luxurious high-tech interior that keeps the driver in command via smart pad technology.
Touchscreens replace buttons and are located in various parts of the car, from a main driver info monitor to a head-up display, a touchscreen between the two individual rear seats and more integrated into the steering wheel’s aluminium and glass paddles.
The infotainment system also has a high-end sound system from Alpine featuring the unique "FreshAir" subwoofer - a not yet released technology that uses the air outside the car to create the ultimate listening experience.
Volvo says the car’s interior offers customers a cultivated, Scandinavian inspired environment that’s user-focused and uncomplicated.
The interior is driver-orientated at the front and relaxed in the rear, the dark colour scheme in the front seats fading towards the rear until it transforms into a light rear seating area.
And the Concept You design also brings the qualities of a tailor made suit to the car, the back of the front seats and the door panels featuring Italian fabric and designs from Swedish fashion house Oscar Jacobson.
