BRING me sunshine - or better still bring me a cabriolet.
Out comes the sun and there we all are with our lids lowered basking in an Indian summer and there is nothing better than being able to raise and lower the soft top at the touch of a button.
The Audi A4 Cabriolet is a real looker oozing classic lines and curves that attract all kinds of attention. And the performance, handling and ride are definitely something to write home about.
It has all the fun and refreshing features of a sports cars without the bone jangling hard suspension and the S line specification adds some fabulous touches.
These include 18-inch alloy wheels, heated sports seats with leather upholstery and a sports steering wheel with leather trim.
The hood can be lowered in 30 seconds and folds away out of sight in a stowage compartment behind the rear seats.
The A4 has ample room for four adults although luggage space is a little limited, especially when the roof is down.
Added extras on the model include a parking assistance system, electric front seats, heated door mirrors, heated washer jets for icy conditions and a BOSE hi-fi.
Safety features highly on the A4 with an anti-locking braking system complete with electronic brakeforce distribution and an electronic stability programme, a reinforced body structure and special impact resistant doors.
In case of a rollover two protective bars controlled by sensors are triggered behind the rear passengers within milliseconds which together with the reinforced windscreen frame preserve survival space for driver and passengers.
All in all, the A4 is a dream to drive and unlike some other cabriolet models does not feel in the slightest bit claustrophobic with the roof up.
My only criticism, albeit a small one, is that you cannot engage the handbrake properly when the central armrest is down.
It handles admirably and with all the luxury touches of an executive saloon should be high on any wish list.
