THE latest in a long line of Audi A4s is ready for ordering and it sounds rather good.
Needless to say, Audi will have pulled out all the stops on this one - their biggest seller by a mile.
The junior executive saloon has a longer wheelbase than the old model, giving more interior space and almost certainly an improved ride.
Audi claims better driver appeal too so I can't wait to get behind the wheel.
From launch engines will be a single 3.2-litre petrol V6 with an excellent 265bhp, and three diesels - a 2.0-litre with 143bhp, a 2.7 V6 with 190 and a 3.0-litre with 240.
There is also a 1.8 turbo petrol available to order with 160bhp.
The all new chassis has a new design of front axle, a completely new steering system and the latest generation of quattro four wheel drive on more powerful models.
All apart from the 2.7 TDI have a six speed manual gearbox or a tiptronic auto but the smaller V6 has an up-dated version of the very efficient CVT auto.
Interior
Safety is excellent with a full range of electronic driver aids and loads of airbags.
The first specification available will be SE which includes 17 inch alloys, a 180watt CD player with MP3 capability, claimate control and rear parking sensors.
