Hi,
I'm looking to buy a used Audi A6, preferably 2009 onwards if I can find one in budget. My question is this. With the new model starting deliveries in April 2011 am I best waiting til’ just after then to look for used examples of the previous model?
Many thanks,
Alex
Answer
Hello Alex,
You are correct. We’d say give it a few months after the launch of the new model if you can. Wait til’ they start appearing on the roads – then the used price of the previous model should start to tumble. You can work this even better to your advantage of you go for a petrol car. Although it will use more fuel than a diesel you will more than make that money up on the much lower purchase price. Dealers will be keen to offload them. Remember that as well as being cheaper to buy - petrol cars often have lower mileages and higher spec. They are usually private purchases as opposed to the diesels which, more often than not, are company or fleet cars.
Consider this diesel…
Versus this petrol…
Similar cars, similar mileage but a big difference in price.
Good luck with your searching!
Tom
