BMW has launched an all new 3-Series which should lead to an influx of used 3-Series models at attractive prices.
The BMW 3-Series has been the benchmark for small executive saloons since it’s inception back in 1976.
There’s no denying that the 3-Series is expensive, especially when you consider the volumes they are produced in. £28,000 for the bog-standard 320d is a stark reminder how dear these cars have become.
But, the used prices are much more attractive, letting you get into a £30,000 car for almost any budget:
Here are some examples from UsedCarExpert.
BMW 320d
As good as the new car will no doubt turn out to be, there’s no getting away from the fact that it looks a lot like the last one. With the rather wonderful 2.0 diesel engine and in smoother riding SE trim the 320d makes a lot of sense. It’s still in warranty and someone else has paid the bulk of the depreciation.
UsedCarExpert.co.uk Cars for sale: An extremely tidy 2009 320d SE with a full service history and one owner, in silver with 45,000 miles on the clock is available for £15,995. That’s £16,000 less than a new one.
BMW 330d
The point at which BMW diesel engines came of age. Mighty performance coupled with superb economy means that, if you can get a touring model that’s been pampered and serviced properly, the E46 3-Series could be all the car ever you need.
UsedCarExpert.co.uk Cars for sale: An X reg, 2000 car in blue with 95,000 miles on the clock and a full service history will cost you £4,000 – or slightly less than trick dampers and an automatic gearbox on the new car.
BMW 325i
About as cool a car as you could ever hope to own. The traditional yuppie special of the 80’s has become a highly desirable classic car in recent years. Still feels like a genuine luxury item and, provided you shell out for a good one and keep it serviced, your money should be safe. It might even appreciate in value enough to cover the insurance and tax.
UsedCarExpert.co.uk Cars for sale: A pampered 1980s, E30 3-Series with the proper service history and less than 80,000 miles on the clock and a full service history is available for £2,500.
