Question

Hello,

I am looking at purchasing a used BMW 3-Series that I can do 20,000 miles a year in for 3 - 4 years.

If i am do that sort of milage what sort of maximum milage should I be looking at?

My brother's BMW 3-Series - on a P plate - is still going strong at over 120,000 miles.

But since 100,000 some trim has felt pretty floppy and the suspensions (shock absorber replacements etc) landed him a big bill at just over the 100,000 mile mark.

So you should aim for something of around 40,000 miles if you can. I would also err towards petrol because the diesel will cost more in services and repairs as it gets up towards the 6 digit mileage.
