Hi
I bought a BMW 318i a few months ago and have driven it 5 times in all. It has been in he garage since I bought it for several weeks having repairs done.
The seller was a car dealership that gave a 3 month warranty and the warranty did not cover the repairs so I have had to pay out nearly £2000 for repairs which the seller said he had done.
What can I do please?
Thank you, M J Cory
Answer
Hi
This is the trouble with warranties - do they really cover what you need them to?
But that's a discussion for another day, the answer to your problem is that under the Sale of Good Act you have a right to a car that works (unless it was described as not working).
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 and the Consumer Credit Act 1974 say that, if you can show the goods to be faulty or misdescribed, you have 'for a short time after purchase' a right to reject the goods and get a refund of the purchase price.
You should contact Consumer Direct for advice: www.consumerdirect.gov.uk. Telephone: 08454 04 05 06.

So move fast!
Best of luck.
