CADILLAC has announced prices for its new range of compact executive saloons, which go on sale here from early April.
Prices will range from £21,473 for the 1.9-litre diesel to £32,398 for the 2.8-litre V6 Sport Luxury with six-speed automatic transmission.
There will also be a two-litre 175bhp turbo petrol model costing from £20,728 in standard five-speed manual form to £25,678 in 210bhp Luxury guise with five-speed automatic transmission.
In total there will be a dozen models encompassing one diesel and three petrol engines, each with manual or automatic transmission and three equipment levels.
The right-hand drive BLS extends the American luxury brand's model line-up with a premium mid-size saloon designed and made in Europe for the specific requirements of European drivers.
The arrival of the BLS is intended to accelerate Cadillac's renaissance, which last year saw sales in Europe increase by three quarters.
First shown by General Motors at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2005, the new front-wheel drive BLS is the first-ever Cadillac with a turbo diesel engine.
There is a MacPherson strut front suspension and a four-link rear axle to banish criticisms that Cadillacs are wallowy and unwieldy in the true American tradition.
At just 4.7-metres in length the newcomer is about the same size as Jaguar's X-Type.
The BLS also comes with four wheel drive and Cadillac says that it will be packed with luxury equipment including climate control, satellite navigation and electric operation of virtually everything that moves.
