IF travelling from one place to another in leisurely and hassle-free fashion is all you aspire to in life then Chevrolet may just have the right car.
It comes in the acceptable shape of the Matiz, which is just about as small as any five-door hatchback can possibly be.
The cabin is narrow so ideally it will accommodate four rather than five people but it is tall and relatively short, which makes it very easy to get in and out of and a doddle to park in tight spaces.
Everything about the Matiz is on the lower scale of average, including build quality, the materials used and the equipment provided.
The interior is fairly sparse in comparison to some of its rivals and performance is among the most leisurely of any car.
However, it is inexpensive to buy and cheap to run, it is simplicity itself to drive and as a short-distance runabout it is ideal.
Whilst the Matiz does not excel in any particular discipline it does not do anything exceptionally badly either and is a decent all-rounder.
The automatic model costs £7,330 and comes with front electric windows and a CD player. That's it.
There is a three-star safety rating for crash-worthiness but little in the way of active safety features.
Beneath the bonnet lies an engine of just 800cc, which when mated to the optional automatic transmission endows the Matiz with acceleration to 60mph in a yawning 22 seconds, a top speed of 85mph and a CO2 rating of 136g/km.
Similar cars such as the Fiat Panda or Daihatsu Sirion are better but they are also significantly more expensive.
The closest rival is the Perodua Kelisa, which in automatic guise costs £6,500.
