LET'S get one thing straight from the start - this is a big motor and unless you need a seven-seater most of the time, forget it.
The Grand Voyager is touching 17 feet long which almost puts it in the mini-bus sector.
But despite this it's easy to drive, returns nearly 30mpg and in XS specification offers luxury motoring and has enough room to shift the biggest load or family.
Earlier this year Chrysler gave the Grand Voyager line-up a new look with redesigned headlamps, grille, alloy wheels and body mouldings.
The interior has also been improved and with its blacked out rear windows the Voyager could be an ideal choice for companies handling the transport of VIPs who want to remain out of the public gaze. The Limited XS I tested also featured a black paint job which added to its individual looks.
Coming in at £31,290 the range-topping XS is in competition with the likes of the VW Caravelle or Renault Grand Espace.
I think it beats them both for looks, both outside and in.
Power for the biggie comes from a 2.8-litre common rail diesel engine which has vast pulling power, a claimed top speed of 112mph and zero to 62mph in 12 seconds, which isn't bad considering its size.
The driving experience is pleasant. Not easy to reverse into a tight parking space, but I was surprised at its good turning circle. Remember just how long the Voyager is and you will soon stop mounting kerbs when turning left at junctions.
You'd expect a lot of rock and roll when taking tight bends, but Chrysler has improved the seven-seater's suspension.
The four-speed automatic gearbox works well. It does rev up a bit, but the final change is smooth and seamless. I didn't like the column mounted gear change. But maybe after a few weeks behind the wheel owners will get used to it.
Another down point is the placing of the large brake pedal. It is positioned too far left which means your left foot has nowhere to go except under the brake pedal.
Seats are configured two, two, three and there is plenty of room to get in and out. This is helped by the Voyager's electrically operated sliding side doors which can be operated at the touch of a button from inside and from the outside using a button on the key fob.
Stand equipment on the XS model is almost endless. It includes anti-lock brakes, immobiliser, alarm, traction control, headlamp levelling system, fog lamps, side impact protection, central locking, powered tailgate and side doors, headlamp washers, 16in alloys, roof rail and bars, heated rear window, power door locks, leather steering wheel, CD/radio/GPS navigation system, etc, etc.
It's a classy MPV, a cut above most.
