Here's an example fault on the CHRYSLER Grand Voyager (2008-)

What to look for:

Make absolutely sure that that the battery is charging properly. During the test drive, run all the electrics on the car – headlights, air-con etc – let them run with the engine off for 10 minutes or so. Check to see if the car starts cleanly afterward with a strong kick from the starter motor easily turning the engine.

What it means:

If you find that the car will not start, or will not start cleanly then there may be a problem with the battery itself, the alternator or the crankshaft sensor. This will need to be diagnosed and repaired. These three problems vary greatly in repair cost.
