Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.4 Limited Cabriolet - Chrysler PT Car Review

LOVE 'em or loathe 'em, there's no mistaking them ... the Chrysler brand always stands out in a crowd.

And that's just the case with the latest PT Cruiser model which now comes in a rag-top version with the roof raising or lowering at the press of a button.

Supplied with a 2.4-litre engine, the PT Cruiser Cabrio has certainly maintained its uniqueness and designers were given strict instructions not to change its look, which has always been a key factor for buyers.

Inside, there is ample room for four adults who are easily accommodated thanks to the tip-and-slide front passenger seat and the boot area can hold plenty of luggage.

It was Chrysler's aim to build a convertible that was exceptionally quiet with the top raised or lowered, and, in fairness, they have succeeded. Thickened glass, streamlined contours and every possible noise reduction factor has been considered and fitted. The result is one of the quietest convertibles in its class.

However, I did find the PT Cruiser lacked a little oomph! In fact, at times, it could be described as sluggish especially on the open road when the 2.4 engine was not so impressive as the peaceful hush.

But that aside, the Cruiser was great fun to drive. It boasts excellent visibility and plenty of top notch equipment to keep the driver and occupants amused. These range from a single mounted CD player, via cup holders to the snazzy flush shut-off circular air vents.

In fact the list of standard features is most impressive, especially when you consider the very reasonable asking price.

The PT Cabrio comes complete with alloy wheels, leather and suede faced seats - heated at the front - with lumbar support for the driver and a leather wrapped steering wheel  - many of these features would cost thousand in 'extras' with other manufacturers.

Safety features highly too with numerous airbags, and anti-lock brakes.
